We had a wonderful, relaxing day to end our wonderful excursion to Amsterdam. We attended Liturgy this morning and Matthew and Tammy's church including a procession outside.
We were excited to see Fr. Meletios Webber who had been at St. Mary's as a guest speaker a few years go.
They have the snallest prosphora of anywhere I have been. You can see the scale by the photo below.
Tammy was especially excited to show us the baptistry which has recently been completed. She actually did part of the mosaic work. It was incredibly beautiful as you can see!
In the baptistry there is a small altar and iconostas as well which reminded me of some of the smaller wooden churches we have visited in Slovakia.
To the left of the altar is a very unusual icon of three generations of Christ. St. Anna the mother of Mary, the Theotokos and Christ.
We had a lovely lunch afterwards at a new restaurant and said our goodbyes. Tammy and Matthew were most gracious hosts...our Amsterdam visit would not have been anywhere near as interesting without them and we are extremely grateful for their incredible hospitality!!!
We said our goodbyes and took the tram back to the Dam district where we did a little food and souvenir shopping. Upon our return to the B&B we packed our bags, said goodbye to our hostess there, Matushka Aliona, and took a cab to our airport hotel in anticipation of our early morning flights to Prague and then on to Kosice to begin our great Slovak adventure!
We purchased a fair number of healthy snack items and had our little dinner in the lobby area of the hotel and now we are hoping for an early night, a restful sleep and a safe journey to begin the main reason we came to Europe...Slovakia and Veronika's wedding!
Until tomorrow....
