What a lovely day we had today. After sleeping in...literally...we met Tammy and Matthew and they took us on a canal tour of Amsterdam. Lots of lovely sights in this city and a few will be posted below.
We had a quick lunch at BurgerMeister and then we were off to Keukenhof...the bulb gardens...or as Tammy calls it...the Disneyland of tulips...and she wasn't kidding. It felt like I was in heaven! I could bore you with all the photos I took but I'll spare you the details and just post a few. It's a lovely garden with approximately eight million bulbs planted. There are meandering streams, formal beds and some not so formal beds. The theme this year is Van Gogh so there was an entire display devoted to him along with a "portrait" of the master done completely in flower petals. It was a sight to behold.
We ended up spending an enjoyable evening at Matthew and Tammy's house...Matthew is quite talented and has made many of the pieces of furniture and other artifacts in their place. He is also an avid genealogist with roots in Portland, Maine so we had lots in common to share...and suspect that perhaps maybe he and Todd are even distantly related through their French bloodlines in the Normandy area.
After a pizza dinner and wonderful conversation we took the tram home and are looking forward to Liturgy tomorrow morning, a little shopping in the afternoon and then we move to the Holiday Inn by the airport so that we are close by for our flight to Kosice Monday morning.
